IPAM Beta Suggestions

Hello,

I know the IPAM is in beta, but I have some suggestions.

Right now, you can add by network subnet.

That's fine, but the subnet does not always equal a DHCP pool.

It would be nice to monitor an entire subnet, but also monitor a range of IP addresses for the DHCP scope on that segment.

For example, the subnet might be 192.168.1.0/24, but the DHCP pool might be 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.254.

In that case, it would be great to alert on the DCHOP range utilization, AS WELL as the entire subnet.

In some cases, we need to statically assign some devices on a network segment, that would be outside of the DHCP scope.

Additionally, what is the requirement to get detailed port information and MAC address information on the clients?

It seems that only populates if the On-premise poller has a on-link interface to that subnet.

Hi Dennis,

Concerning your query about port and MAC address details, once you add all the routers and switches present in the network as network monitors, the MAC address will be retrieved.

Best,
Rama
