Advanced configurations for OCI monitoring

Site24x7's advanced configuration settings for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) monitoring provide you with enhanced control and customization over your monitoring environment. These settings allow you to fine-tune monitoring thresholds, configure alerts, and optimize resource performance based on your organization's unique needs.

This document provides you with a list of advanced configurations available for OCI monitoring.

How to get started

To access the advanced configuration options:

  1. Sign in to the Site24x7 web client.
  2. Navigate to Cloud > OCI
  3. Click Integrate OCI Monitor.
  4. On the Add OCI Monitor page, configure the necessary details such as Display Name, Compartment ID, Policy ID, Discovery Options, and Exclude/Include OCI Resources. Then, navigate to the Advanced Configuration section.
  5. In the Advanced Configuration section, you can configure the desired settings from the available options.

Supported configuration options for OCI monitoring

Here are the advanced configuration options available for OCI monitoring:

  • Mark Stopped Resources as Maintenance: You can choose to put a stopped or disabled OCI resource into Site24x7's maintenance window by setting the toggle to Yes. Site24x7 will remove the resource from maintenance once it transitions from stopped or disabled to the active state.
  • Notify for the Exhaustion of Basic Monitor License Units: In Site24x7, a monitored instance of an OCI cloud service is considered a basic monitor. By setting the toggle to Yes, you'll receive an email notification whenever basic monitor units of your Site24x7 subscription plan get exhausted.
  • Stop Rediscovery if the License Units have Exhausted: Rediscovery helps Site24x7 monitor newly provisioned instances of any supported OCI service. By setting the toggle to Yes, you can stop rediscovery whenever the basic monitor license limit occurs for your Site24x7 subscription.
  • Create Monitor Groups using Native Tags: Oracle Cloud Infrastructure tagging allows you to add metadata to resources, enabling you to define keys and values and associate them with resources. You can leverage these same tags to create logical groups of resources automatically (i.e., Monitor Groups) in the Site24x7 console.
  • Tags for all Resources: Associate tags to all your OCI resources in the compartment. These tags won't apply to the OCI monitor.

Poll Frequency Settings

Poll Interval based on Tags: During monitor discovery, you can assign different polling intervals ranging from as low as a minute to different OCI services. This can be done based on Tags, Monitor Groups, or Monitor Types.

Resource Termination Settings

  • Mute Resource Termination Alerts: You can choose to suppress termination alerts for your monitored OCI resources by setting the toggle to Yes.
For instance, when a Compute Instance or any OCI resource terminates, the status of the corresponding monitor in the Site24x7 console will move from Up to Down, triggering an alert. The resource termination alerts can be applied on multiple OCI resources by specifying the key-value pair(s) and muting the termination alerts for them. Termination alerts for all monitored resources will be muted by default if no tags are configured.
  • Automatically Remove Terminated Resources: When you toggle this option to Yes, an additional field is provided to determine how long the terminated OCI resource must be retained in the web console of Site24x7 until permanent deletion.
When you toggle this option to No, the terminated resources will be removed in the daily clean-up activity of your resources, and the terminated OCI resources will not be retained.
