APM Insight: Empowering performance management

This year, we focused on expanding the capabilities of APM Insight and APM agent to make performance monitoring more robust and intuitive.
  • JVM monitoring: Delivered enhanced alerting capabilities for JVM heap and runtime memory usage, coupled with AI-powered Zia alerts for detecting anomalies in JVM attributes and error rates.
  • Key transaction alerts: Introduced threshold breach alerts and notifications for monitoring critical transactions and user satisfaction levels that exceed defined thresholds. 
  • Python custom instrumentation: Enabled granular monitoring of threads, cron tasks, and custom exceptions using APIs for deeper application insights.
  • Thread dump analysis: Introduced tools to identify bottlenecks, deadlocks, and blocked threads in multi-threaded environments.
  • Loop detection: Delivered detailed metrics for identifying inefficient logic and duplicate database queries, providing unparalleled visibility into resource-intensive operations for smoother workflows.
  • Azure functions monitoring: Expanded serverless application support by enabling tracking of response times, throughput, and Apdex scores using the .NET Core agent.
  • Async/Await support and bulk installation for .NET: Enabled asynchronous method monitoring for modern .NET workflows and simplified large-scale deployments with faster installation and consistent IIS filter settings.
  • Service map filter: Simplified root-cause analysis by introducing customizable map views to focus on critical transactions.
This year, we also launched the beta release of OpenTelemetry integration. Site24x7 now supports ingesting OpenTelemetry traces that enable a seamless transition for applications and services built on the OpenTelemetry standard.
These innovations empower businesses to stay ahead of issues, optimize performance, and enhance user experiences. 

Logs: Improved analysis and management

We have introduced several enhancements to AppLogs to expand coverage and usability.
  • Azure NSG flow logs: Delivered detailed insights into Azure network security and operations to enhance threat management and operational oversight.
  • Percentile and trend analysis: Introduced percentile for average timeslice queries. By combining percentile, timeslice, and aggregation, you can now compare percentile values over specific time intervals.
  • Bulk action management: Simplified the process of managing multiple alerts simultaneously. You can now update check frequency and user alert groups for multiple AppLogs alerts. You can also delete alerts in bulk for efficient management.
These updates ensure faster log analysis and actionable insights for your infrastructure.

Databases: Expanding database performance monitoring

To keep pace with the evolving demands of database management, Site24x7 now offers enhanced support tailored to meet your changing needs.
  • PostgreSQL instance and database monitoring: Delivered comprehensive PostgreSQL monitoring with in-depth analysis of individual databases.
  • Oracle instance and database monitoring: Enabled monitoring of Oracle databases along with their pluggable databases and tablespaces to ensure optimal performance.
  • AWS RDS and Aurora monitoring support: Enhanced PostgreSQL and MySQL support in AWS environments allows for effortless monitoring of cloud databases.
  • MSSQL Insights: Provided tools to monitor failed jobs and blocked sessions, ensuring efficient resolution of database performance issues.
From traditional databases to cloud setups, these advancements have given teams greater confidence in managing critical data systems.

Plugins: Enabling faster deployment and broader coverage

Plugins received major upgrades to simplify deployment and deliver broader monitoring options:
  • Bulk deployment: Simplified plugin installation on multiple hosts using the Site24x7 web client or automation tools like Active Directory and Ansible.
  • Single-command installers: Enabled quick installation of widely-used plugins such as Apache, NGINX, Oracle, and MongoDB with a single command.
  • Upgraded interface: Rolled out a new tabbed view, additional performance metrics, and child monitor support to provide more intuitive plugin management.
  • Expanded repository: Added support for a range of new plugins including Sybase, Windows Certificates, common internet file system (CIFS), Windows DFS, and InfluxDB, among others.
These improvements provide greater flexibility and efficiency, empowering you to monitor diverse environments with ease.
